L’opération consiste en la restructuration partielle d’un bâtiment du lycée Simone Veil en vue de l’implantation de la cuisine centrale à Charleville-Mézières. Ce projet s’implante au cœur du site « cité scolaire » composé de nombreux bâtiments etregroupant les usages suivants : gymnase, externat, cuisine et restauration, pôle administratif internat, CDI/foyer externat sciences. L’ensemble de la cité fait l’objet d’une restructuration. Le lycée ayant fermé ses portes en juin 2025. La future cuisine centrale concernera une partie de ce site et s’implantera en lieu et place de l’ancienne cuisine du lycée, du réfectoire et d’un bâtiment de bureaux. Ce projet a pour objectif de mettre les locaux aux normes pour leur nouvelle fonction et d’offrir un cadre de travail agréable et adapté pour les employés. Le bâtiment du lycée concerné par la présente mission sera inoccupé lors des travaux. En revanche les autres bâtiments du site « cité scolaire » pourront être occupés. Dans une logique de fonctionnalité de la future cuisine centrale, des petites extensions peuvent être envisagées, et quelques aménagements extérieurs seront à prévoir.
